Six Trump Staffers Fired for Failing Background Checks
WASHINGTON, February 16, 2017—Six Trump White House staffers were fired Thursday after failing FBI background checks. Some of the staffers were escorted out of the White House by security, according to reports.
The six employees that were fired reportedly failed Standard Form (SF) 86, Questionnaire for National Security Positions, a security questionnaire used by government employees, government contractors and members of the military when applying for security clearance. It includes information regarding an individual’s credit score, history of substance use, ties to foreign governments and criminal record.
The only staffer identified by name at the moment is Caroline Wiles, Trump’s director of scheduling. Wiles is the daughter of Susan Wiles, former chief of staff to Florida Governor Rick Scott and Florida campaign director for Donald Trump. Caroline Wiles will instead be taking a job at the Treasury Department, according to Politico.
According to other reports, two of the aides fired were set to take up positions at the National Security Council.
The White House has not commented on the firings.
