Fight Trump by Supporting These Organizations

WASHINGTON, November 15, 2016—For many, the reality of a Donald Trump Presidency has sparked a new desire to “do something” to voice opposition to the president-elect’s divisive, ugly rhetoric. There are a number of productive, peaceful actions individuals can undertake to tell Trump and his supporters how they feel.

One of the most productive things to do to oppose Trump and the promises he made on the campaign trail is to support organizations that protect the people and causes that Donald Trump threatens. Now more than ever, these organizations need not only your money, but most importantly, your time and your voice.

Following is a list (updated periodically) of groups and causes to support by volunteering, donating your money or getting their message out:

Civil Rights

Alliance for Justice “Alliance for Justice believes that all Americans have the right to secure justice in the courts and to have their voices heard when government makes decisions that affect their lives.” Donate or get involved.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) “For almost 100 years, the ACLU has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.” Donate or take action.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Since 1909, the NAACP’s mission has been “to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.” Donate or find your local unit and take action.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) The SPLC is “dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society.
